From October 12, when crossing the border of the Republic of Latvia, an electronic questionnaire will have to be filled in

On Tuesday, October 6, the Cabinet of Ministers (CM) approved the amendments submitted by the Ministry of the Interior to Cabinet of Ministers No. 360 of the Regulations “Epidemiological Security Measures to Control the Spread of Covid-19 Infection” on the Implementation of the “Traveller Registration Control Information System (IECIS)”.

Electronic questionnaires will be available from any smart device and will be filled in on a special website covidpass.lv from October 12. This means that persons entering the Republic of Latvia before October 11 at 23:59, there are still paper questionnaires to be filled in, which, as now, will be taken care of by the carriers. By October 12, the website covidpass.lv will already be available, and persons crossing the border of the Republic of Latvia will be required to fill in a questionnaire and show the received QR code to border guards.

Completion of the certificate is mandatory for all immigrants, and it must be completed no earlier than 48 hours before crossing the border of the Republic of Latvia.

The person must indicate in the questionnaire his / her name, surname, personal identification code, contact telephone number and address of actual residence where the person will be reached, as well as countries and dates of departure during the last 14 days before arrival in the territory of Latvia, etc. For each adult, the certificate must be completed separately, for minors, the certificate must be completed by parents or legal guardians.

After filling in the confirmation form, the immigrant will receive a personalized QR code, which will confirm the submission of data. If the QR code is lost, the website will have the function “receive QR code” again by entering the e-mail address.

The data indicated in the questionnaire will be automatically transferred to law enforcement authorities – the State Police (VP), the State Border Guard (VRS) and Disease Prevention and Control Center (SPKC). Personal data will be stored for 30 days for the purpose of using the information received for epidemiological security and traceability of contact persons. After 30 days, personal data will be automatically deleted.

Traveller Registration Control Information System IECIS, which will further serve as an electronic self-declaration system (confirmation questionnaire) for persons arriving or returning to Latvia from abroad, has been developed by the Information Center of the Ministry of the Interior in cooperation with VP, VRS and SPKC.
